Surely, you have already noticed that there are different color variants of the so-called morphs. The vast majority are colors bred in captivity and which are currently sold. In the wild it is possible to meet only with the brown form of crestie. A really large number of color forms are artificially created, from which the price of individual crested geckos is derived.

Fired up / down - Before we talk about morphs, it's good to explain this concept. Fired up indicates the coloration that crested geckos have when they are active (up)

They fire up when awake and active or stressed. There’s actually a really cool reason for this.

When they fire up, they get darker in color. Often a darker gray or redish brown color. This is because in the wild they are nocturnal, so when they sleep it is lighter out, so they’re understandably lighter in color! When awake, they darken up, because it’s dark outside! Camouflage my friend!
